Urgent SCIENCE Research Questions
Nobody imagined poison fragments microplastics and PFAS could travel so far outta bounds! Daily accumulation of microplastics and PFAS in brain, liver, kidneys, lungs, and private parts can't be ignored.
Just about all filtration systems we depend on today are made mostly of novel material combined with "simulated fiber, electro-spuns, and resins." After a mere 2 decades++ disposal in landfill/incineration utility products we love now contaminate water and air.
⏳ My research suggests that ultra-porous fired paperclay ceramic similar to what the artists have been using for decades is a practical, affordable, time/fuel saving, eco-positive form of filtration which is cradle to grave harmless in landfill.
The mix can be mechanically and chemically engineered to target, viruses, microbes, microplastic and long term contaminates (like PFAS, PFOS, glyphosate/pesticides, et.al.).
Would transition in part to paperclay systems lead to lower cost water treatment options? YES.
Will adoption of the approach lead to scores of new patents, new products, and opportunities for good? YES
Collaborative R&D will provide formal and hard science metrology to speed practical support for large scale industries and medicine pipelines desiring to offer value to customers.
Priority would be deliver knowledge to industries in ways that reduce cost and time in R&D which can be further customized in part to trade-secret.
Paperclay manufacture systems can lower air and water and carbon pollution at scale. Investors and customer ask for this.
New income streams await industries who plan to keep their loyal customers and build trust and reliability in the function of their brand.
Why wait? Progress Report: My presentation to sustainable materials manufacture symposium at MS&T24, and MS&T25 opened discussion. Thirty++ years ago complex variables in paperclay systems were beyond reach of data modeling. It's on the horizon because it's needed and it's feasible! During 2026 ACERS Spring conference practical merits were further clarified. The most appropriate fundraising strategy can soon be decided.
