I celebrated Earth Day Number 1 in college 1970. The first image of earth after the first moon walk 1969 inspired us! It's Earth Day 56. Some of us elders can offer perspective on practical advance. The consequence of choices made decades ago added up to this issue we face decades later. And today's choices matter for tomorrow!
A single degree of course correction allowed safe return of Apollo space craft, for instance.
Let's figure out what can change the outcome! WE may need several keys 🔑🔑🔑 to open the door. Some of these are easy in theory.
🔑 Even slight adjustment to the process of making of synthetic materials and industries will be enough to improve the outcome and survive!
🔑 Even slight adjustment to processes in design, method, and production of ceramic will be enough to lower the curve.
🔑 Even a level of awareness and perspective must be attained that is higher-and slightly new compared than the level that started will reveal a cluster of options.

Artist evidence of success early stage over three decades suggests that certain forms of porous paper-clay mix with water can be mechanically and chemically adapted to catch these microplastic and even PFAS trouble makers, save about half the fuel to fire, be harmless in landfill and too many practical advantages to list here.
Would transition in part to paperclay systems lead to lower cost water treatment options? YES.
Will adoption of the approach lead to scores of new patents, new products, and opportunities for good? YES

A research initiative will provide and stimulate formal and hard science metrology for large scale industries and medicine who are considering which product(s) most feasible to adapt or develop for customers in their sector.
Priority would be to use this knowledge for clearing the water-air in cost effective system. The overall purpose ties-in to an environmental impact that can't help but lower air and water pollution more quickly if it can be done at scale.
New income streams await industries who plan to keep their loyal customers and build trust and reliability in the function of their brand.
Thanks to ACERS members who are becoming aware of research questions which I have been asking formally since 2024. One of their members Kingery and I prepared the first micrographs and characterization in 1992. Thanks to early adopter artists worldwide who gained increase in expressive freedom which stimulated advance in ceramic art and beyond.
ACERS (American Ceramic Society) contributes to progress in materials on horizons of sustainable fuels, energy, batteries, medicine and more. We celebrated a full week of discoveries last week. Many of scientists are becoming familiar with technical details we will need in research ahead!
