Are practical and profitable ways for industry to clear air and water in the forecast? Scroll below Meet Rosette Gault
My durable thermal shock resistant porous paperclay test medallion-tiles above were designed using my set of "eco- criteria" some of which are summed below.
The low cost or reclaim mineral clays/glazes/pulps (cellulose) should fuse well at or below 1180C, fast fire (less fuel), save time in assembly, avoid smoky emission (pyrolysis) and be non-toxic in landfill. Rethink ceramic material production wherever practical and feasible and reduce at scale contribution to carbon and water problems one product at a time.
A formal call from me (and artists worldwide) to materials scientists for an up-to-date detailed examination at what we never could see before is underway. See below.
Urgent SCIENCE Research Questions
We have a time-sensitive paradox challenge in 2026 in materials science. Remedies and antidotes to the long term consequences novel polymer products (micro-plastics) can more quickly be developed by teams of investigators already on the hunt.

My concern
Just about all filtration systems that we depend on today are made in whole or part of "synthetic novel materials" involving "simulated fiber, electro-spun filament, and resins."
Welcomed at first, such products helped save lives even to present day with exponential economic advantage to world trade.
After a mere 2 decades++ of daily use and disposal of goods in landfill/incineration, these and most if not all similar synthetics degrade to micro plastic, poison contaminates in water and air. Medical labs report traces of toxin from these accumulate in our brains and body tissues.
More lives are soon to be at risk and stakes are high today long term.
A new kind of team can lift us to a paradigm beyond the one which sustains and created the problem. Long term value of coordinated research offers earth balanced-economic advantage for all.
⏳ A practical, affordable, time/fuel saving, eco-positive filtration system which is "cradle to grave" harmless in landfill exists. It's up to a team of us to pivot and advance from prior paradigm about managing carbon.
⏳ For instance, we can get the detail of how and which specific variations on the a "paperclay system" mix (clay, cellulose fiber (pulp-biomass etc) and water can be mechanically and chemically engineered to target whichever viruses, microbes, bacteria (e-coli etc) microplastic and long term pollution (like PFAS, PFOS, glyphosate/pesticides, et.al.).
Would transition in part to paperclay systems in at scale manufacture lead to lower cost water treatment options? YES.
Will adoption of the approach lead to scores of new patents, new products, and opportunities for good? YES
Industries require and seek practical ways to manufacture and deliver consistent value in the market same time reduce fuel, energy cost and time in the manufacture pipeline.
Investors and customers prefer industries who develop ways to lower air and water and carbon pollution at scale.
New income streams await industries who plan to keep their loyal customer base and build trust and reliability in the function of their brands.
⏳How fast can we transition to alternatives?
Rosette Gault: Abstract for Eco-Efficient Research Questions MS&T fall 2026
Manufacture, firing of "paperclay products" in a water-based production system can half the fuel/energy use, and lower industrial waste and carbon PM<1 emissions between 20-50% and be harmless in landfill, etc. Some compounds/methods tolerate temperature shock without rare earth minerals and oxidation fire to <1200C.
Versatile interior dynamics adapt to design-form-function specification such as near infinite shapes/size/panels, pipes, novel assembly, wet-dry joins, cast, extrusion, crack and warp elimination, self-healing, fast dry and minimize airborne dust.
Industries producing/developing lightweight, durable water/air/plasma, filtration, propellers, mixing blades, building materials/cements, refractories, coatings, adhesives have loyal customers asking. Some agriculture, aerospace, automotive, geo- textile, bio-ceramics, medical parts are well suited. At scale, the fuel savings, reduction in pyrolysis, rebalance of ecosystems, while retain/growth of income streams is feasible goal.
Alternative remedial water treatment needed. Disposable synthetic products contribute daily to the PM2/PFAS/PFOA burden.
